Take the time to live

Image
Black-and-white photos can bring life to the small details that might otherwise go unnoticed, like the pattern of smoke in light.   The perfect angle can make the perfect picture, A face in frame brings your focus right to them. Lighting can bring out colors so hidden. Some things are just so mesmerizing in the darkness.

Around the LBCC campus

Vincent Ruff

Image
Vincent Ruff is a barista at the Roastrunners cafe in the LBCC campus at the Albany location. Vincent is an 18-year-old LB student majoring in Marine Biology. He chose to work at Roastrunners because he has previous experience as a barista. He's worked there for about a year and a half now.  Vincent says that the best part of his job is working with coworkers, and the hardest part is during the rush hours when it gets jam-packed in the cafe. Vincent said he enjoys working at Roastrunners "because once I knew how to do everything, it became really easy."  Vincent's hobbies outside of work and school are drawing and hiking.

This lovely gentleman, Orvil Bontrager, owner of Papa's Homemade Ice Cream, sells homemade ice cream at Green Bridge Gardens in Jefferson, Oregon, at the yearly pumpkin patch on Saturday, October 18. He is a kind and bright man, with an amazing smile that is so full of joy. You can find Papa's Homemade Ice Cream in Lebanon, at the Saturday market located at the corner of Park and Oak Street! Pam McLagan, one of several LBCC librarians, does a lot for our library, even if you don't notice. She always helps with books with a warm and bright smile, restocks the shelves, and answers questions that students might have. She is a welcoming lady, and I had the pleasure of capturing her warm smile on October 20, in the LBCC library on the Albany campus.

Scio Loggers vs the Taft Tigers!

Image
Scio Loggers face off against the Taft Tigers at a home game in Scio, Oregon. This game took place on Friday, October 3rd, this year, at the Scio High School football field. Here you can see the referee T-ing up for a Taft player to kick off.       Taft Tigers took the lead in the first half with ease; the loggers stood no chance against the tigers, putting 14 to nothing against the loggers in only the first quarter. By the end of the first half, the loggers were struggling to keep up with the tigers  Taft cheerleaders showed massive support to their players, with loud and outspoken cheers. By the end of the game, the Taft Tigers won by 35 points. Leaving the ending scores 42 for the Tgers and 7 for the loggers. The crowd was loud and supportive of both teams. Remember to show support for your local high school football teams!

Lebanon fall flee market and festival

Image
Welcome to a peek at this year's fall festival in Lebanon, OR. This year's event was packed full of smiling faces and busy activities. This fall festival was a Halloween and Back to Hogwarts-themed flea market, full of vendors with homemade items and fun activities for all ages. The festival took place on October 4th from 11am to 6pm.   A lovely picture of a mother and daughter. This sweet mama, Sarah, is enjoying the fall festival with her adorable daughter dressed as Gryffindor students from Harry Potter. It is amazing to see the joy and bonding of a mother and daughter at this time of year. These amazing ladies are a part of a group called the dancing witches. It was such a joy for everyone to experience the positivity of these ladies.  This couple, Rick and Jane, were so full of joy and spirit at the fall festival. They dressed as their Hogwarts houses to join in on the fun of Harry Potter.

working hard, or hardly working?

Tree cutters in Foxfield, Lebanon, Oregon. working hard to keep the small park in the mobile home park nice and neat. The tree cutters are working to keep the trees trimmed and healthy, so they look neater. That way, the trees drop fewer branches into the park. making it look nicer and be safer for the little ones who play there.                This picture shows one of the workers dragging a tree limb that was cut down to keep it out of the way so no one gets hurt while working.      Taking a break sometimes can be good for you! Just like these workers, you never want to overdo it. Taking breaks to let yourself cool down saves you from overworking your body.
